After meeting with friends from different countries during the 2nd World Buddhist Forum, Venerable Master Hsin Tao left for Kathmandu on 4th April, a Saturday evening. He was going to meet his guru, a Kathok Lineage holder, Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche at Zhichen Bairo Ling Monastery and also to participate at the inauguration of the Druk Amitabha Mountain (and the First Annual Drukpa Council).
In recent years, Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche has been urging Venerable Master Hsin Tao to visit Kathmandu whenever time permits. The compassionate master Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche, who has reached an old age, has always hoped that his son, His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, and his spiritual heir, Venerable Master Hsin Tao, could take a break from their busy schedules abroad and gather many times. This was a short but a very happy gathering for everyone. Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche also gave instructions to Venerable Master Hsin Tao as regards to the latter's short retreat schedule. Venerable Master Hsin Tao was expected to return to Taiwan on 15th April.
When Venerable Master Hsin Tao arrived at the Tribuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, he was warmly welcomed by Drubgye Tulku and Mayumla, who represented Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche. The master was immediately taken to Zhiche Bairo Ling Monastery in Tinchuli, Boudhanath, where he was received by an huge entourage of monks who offered khatas. The monks made supplication prayers, offered mandala and made request for the master's longevity. The next day, Venerable Master Hsin Tao attended the inauguration of Druk Amitabha Mountain and the First Annual Drukpa Council.
His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa has spoken lovingly about his father, "My father is a spiritual master for those who need him as guidance on their spiritual path of life. For me, it has been a great gift being his only son. I love him not only in relationship to him as a father but also as a father but also as a companion for every moment of my life. I have never felt lonely in my life despite having gone through a lot of difficulties in my younger days, and I now understand that it was him who gave me the strength to pass through all the difficult periods." And His Holiness has been publicly declaring more than once that "Venerable Master Hsin Tao and I are truly brothers."
Since 1997, Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche has completely passed on to Venerable Master Hsin Tao the lineage of Nyingma Kathok Zhichen Lineage and he has been encouraging the master to spread this Vajrayana lineage in Chinese speaking regions, in order to benefit sentient beings. As Kyabje Zhichen Bairo Rinpoche becomes older, he often wishes his two "sons" who are like the sun and moon to meet frequently. This is the most precious and closest way to support the two beautiful spiritual lineages and the loving brotherhood between His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa and Venerable Master Hsin Tao is definitely the biggest encouragement for those who walk on the Bodhisattva path.
